Choosing a Fitness Studio that will Meet your Needs
There are many fitness studios in any average city
and town in the country. The problem is often which one to choose.
You must keep in mind, not only the cost of the membership, but
where you will feel most comfortable, and which studio has the right
fitness plan for you. In addition, you probably would ideally prefer
the studio that is closest to your work or home, whichever is most
convenient.
It is very important that the studio meets your goals and
expectations. Pay close attention to the staff and organization;
i.e. how the needs of their clients are met, the nature of the
fitness program, etc. Also, play the competition between studios to
your advantage. For example, you should be offered a few free trial
sessions at a studio without having to commit to a membership. The
trial should include supervision of a trainer. During this trial
period, consider the following: condition of the fitness equipment,
training program and supervision, service, atmosphere, and, of
course, the cost of the membership.
The trainers are actually the most important aspect of a fitness
studio. They should have a good education on how to teach you and
what to teach you. A trainer should be knowledgeable in sports
medicine and have general training in fitness. He should also be
able to produce a fitness training test specifically for you and
determine your former sports injuries, as well as your fitness goals
and if you are in good condition to participate in a particular
sport or machine. A trainer who is unskilled may not make the proper
decisions as to what you should or should not do in your fitness
program, even though he pretends to know. Most trainers who are
capable will be able to answer your difficult questions, or at least
go to the proper authority for the answers to your questions.
A fitness studio does not need to have the latest equipment in order
to train the muscles of your body. You may achieve favorable
work-outs without the latest equipment, however, there should be
proper equipment in order for you to accomplish your fitness goals.
This would include equipment for cardio-training, such as
treadmills, steppers, rowers, cycles, etc. and the equipment should
be operating effectively.
